Resumen:

Los autores abordan los amotinamientos en ciudades latinoamericanas en el siglo XIX. Plantean los motines como fuente para evidenciar que la separación de la historia social y política ha distorsionado la comprensión del funcionamiento de las ciudades. Proponen unir estudios de las elites con los de protesta de masas y analizar el sistema político.

Abstract:

The authors approach mutinies in Latin American cities in the XIX century. They put forward riots as a source to evince that the separation of social and political history has distorted the comprehension of the cities’ functioning. They propose to join studies on the elites with those on mass protests and analyze the political system.
