Esta investigación da cuenta de la epidemia de fiebre amarilla que asoló Hermosillo, Sonora, de 1883 a 1885; expone sus aspectos epidemiológicos y explica las causas. También ilustra la evolución del conocimiento médico y las opciones terapéuticas; identifica las zonas endémicas y sus brotes hasta que llegó al noroeste de México, en 1883, y ofrece un panorama actual.

Abstract:

This research gives an account of the yellow fever epidemic that struck Hermosillo, Sonora, from 1883 to 1885; an exposition of its epidemiologic aspects and an explanation for the causes. It also illustrates the evolution of medical knowledge and therapeutic options; it identifies the endemic zones and its outbreaks up to reaching the north of Mexico in 1883 and offers a current picture.
